In a tragic incident, a 13-year-old boy committed suicide after being scolded by his parents for excessive mobile phone usage.

The deceased has been identified as Dhruva, son of Govindaraju, a resident of Ratna Nagar near Byadarahalli.

Dhruva, a 7th-grade student, was reportedly using his mobile phone daily after returning from school. Concerned about his habit, Govindaraju scolded his son on Sunday and advised him to reduce his phone usage. Upset over this, Dhruva returned home from school on Monday evening and hanged himself in his room.

At the time of the incident, only Dhruva’s younger sister was at home, while his parents were away. The incident came to light when Dhruva’s mother returned home. She immediately rushed him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

A case has been registered at the Byadarahalli police station, and further investigations are underway.

Suicide is preventable. If you get any such thoughts, consult or seek expert help.
