Bengaluru: A man has been arrested for stealing expensive bicycles and selling them online, Hulimavu police said.
The accused, Ramesh (21) from Hulimavu, posted advertisements on Facebook to find customers to sell the stolen bikes, police said.
Police said that they have confiscated 6 bicycles worth more than Rs 4.5 lakhs and another 8 motorbikes worth about Rs 4.4 lakhs from his possession.
As per police, Ramesh identified the houses where expensive bicycles were parked and stole them during the night hours by breaking the hand locks. He posted the photographs of the bicycles on Facebook and found customers for the stolen bikes. He also offered a huge discount on the prices of the bikes.
The thief was trapped after one of his posts on Facebook caught the eye of the real owner of the bicycle that got stolen from Hulimavu. The owner went straight to the police and lodged a complaint at the Hulimavu police station. Based on CCTV evidence and other clues, the accused was trapped and arrested, police said.
