Bengaluru: A woman filed a complaint with City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant on Wednesday, alleging sexual harassment by Hennur Police Sub-Inspector Vasanthkumar.
The woman claimed that SI Vasanthkumar not only refused to file FIR about a physical assault complaint but also demanded a bribe, misbehaved, sexually harassed, and threatened to file fictitious cases against her. For these reasons, the woman requested strict action against the police officer.
Giving details of the incident the woman said she was living in Banaswadi and had rented an apartment to Sumathi and Varalakshmi. However, the tenants had not paid the water bill for over a year which led to an altercation on January 13. She was allegedly physically assaulted by them. She also alleged that Varalakshmi’s husband sexually harassed her during the fight.
When she approached Hennur police with her complaint SI Vasathkumar blatantly refused to register the FIR, she alleged.
As per the complaint, the SI summed her to his chamber at the station and gave her two options – Either pay Rs 5 lakhs or pleasure him in bed, the woman claimed. When she refused, the SI is said to have threatened to file false cases against her. She also alleged that the SI destroyed the phone on which the whole conversation was recorded.
Meanwhile, SI Vasanthkumar has dismissed the woman’s complaint as fabricated and false. He denied the allegations and said he did not misbehave with the woman in any way.
