Bengaluru: Police solved the case of the mysterious death of a man and arrested his wife and her paramour for murder.
The arrested have been identified as Anita (31) a resident of Sanjay Gandhi nagar of Nandini Layout and her partner Rakesh (26) of Uttarahalli.
Nandini Layout police said that the duo had suffocated Anjaneya (37) to death on June 18, 2022.
According to police, Anita who worked at a garment factory fell in love with Rakesh who worked in the canteen at her workplace about 4-5 years ago. Anjaneya who came to know of her illicit relationship raised objections.
On June 18, Anita and Rakesh smothered Anjaneya using a pillow and killed him. The next day, Anita told her relatives that Anjaneya had died from excessive drinking. Anjaneya’s relatives, who knew about his drinking problem, believed in her story and conducted his last rights.
Anita threatened her 2 daughters, who had witnessed the murder, so that they would not blurt out the truth.
About 3 months back, Anita abandoned her children and started living with Rakesh at a rented house in Hegganahalli.
The homeless children were admitted to Odanadi NGO in Mysuru. They later narrated the story of the murder to their grandmother.
On January 4, a complaint was filed against the duo at the Nandini Layout police station.
