The decomposed body of a woman was found in a locked apartment at Kaveripura 13 Cross, West Bengaluru on Wednesday evening.

The body was discovered after neighbors called the police to inform them about a foul smell emanating from the locked house.

Police said that the deceased identified as Vanajakshi was strangled to death by her husband Ashok, on Sunday night. He later escaped the scene after locking up the residence. Police arrested Ashok from Agalakote in Magadi taluk in connection with his wife’s murder

Reportedly the couple had frequent quarrels as Ashok suspected Vanajakshi of having an affair with her co-worker at the garment factory. Being a car driver, Ashok used to be away from home most of the time and he had often found Vanajakshi busy chatting, texting someone on the phone. Recently, Ashok had enabled the automatic call recording feature on her phone to confirm his doubts and upon hearing the recording he found that she was speaking to a particular person most of the time.

He confronted her and Vanajakshi said that she would stop talking to that person. However on Sunday evening when Ashok returned home he found Vanajakshi speaking on the phone. A fight erupted between the couple and things took an ugly turn when Vanajakshi said that she would continue talking to that person

Angered by this Ashok strangled her to death and escaped from the house after locking the door.
