B’luru: Youth addicted to wheeling arrested for bike thefts

Kodigehalli police arrested a 22-year-old youth in connection with the theft of bikes and recovered 17 two-wheelers from his possession.

The arrested Sharat Kumar, a resident of Vidyaranyapura was addicted to wheeling. Police said that he had formed a gang with five minor boys and they would steal bikes parked in front of the houses by breaking the handlock.

Several such theft cases had been reported from Kodigehalli, Magadi Road, Basaveshwara Nagar and Chamrajpet areas. Recently when police on night patrol duty were conducting routine inspection they noticed that the bike-borne Sharat tried to evade them. Suspicious of him, police chased him and he was arrested.

Based on the information given by Sharat during the investigation, police detained the five minors and questioned them.

The value of the seized bikes is around Rs 8 lakh.
