A 24-year-old youth working as a food delivery boy allegedly stabbed his friend to death after a verbal argument over Rs 50 on Tuesday night  in Basaveshwaranagar police station limits of Bengaluru.

The accused identified as Shanthkumar has gone absconding after the incident and police have launched a hunt to trace him.

The deceased, Shivamadu and Shanthkumar were childhood friends. On Tuesday evening the duo along with a few of their other friends met near Kurubarahalli Circle to play a game of cricket. Later they went to a cyber centre and Shanthkumar took away Rs 50 from Shivamadu’s wallet.

The victim objected to this and demanded the money be returned. A verbal argument ensued between them and in a fit of rage, Shanthkumar stabbed Shivamadu in the chest.

He was immediately taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
