B’luru: Youth uses accident relief to buy ganja, held for drug peddling

Devanahalli police on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old youth in connection with a drug peddling case and seized 101 kilograms of ganja worth Rs 40 lakhs from his possession.
The arrested identified as Sachin alias Sagar, 24, of Nayandahalli happens to be a hotel management graduate and had returned to Bengaluru from Malaysia after completing his internship.
Sachin it is gathered had met with a road accident last year and recently received compensation for the injury. He used this sum to procure drugs from Visakhapatnam and roped in an acquaintance — Anand, 23, an auto driver to sell the consignment to consumers and local peddlers.
On Monday police had received information that Sachin and Anand were selling ganja near Chocolate House on Nandi Hill Road and reached the spot. While they managed to detain Anand and seized five kilograms of ganja from him, Sachin fled from the spot on his bike.
