Bengaluru: As many as 25 passengers escaped unhurt after the BMTC bus in which they were traveling caught fire near Nanda Talkies in South End Circle on Tuesday, February 1 afternoon.
The fire was noticed by driver Kemparaju who alerted the passengers and got them to alight from the bus. Later he and bus conductor Mantappa tried to contain the flames till fire tenders arrived at the spot, but the bus was almost gutted by then.
The bus is suspected to have caught fire due to a short circuit but the actual cause is yet to be ascertained, said a police official
Notably, this is the second incident in a span of 10 days. On January 21 a BMTC bus had caught fire near Makkalakoota signal in Chickpet police station limits.
