Malpe: Chandrashekhar Mogera who was fighting for his life at the ICU in Adarsha hospital at Udupi after having attempted suicide by consuming rat poison has lost his battle for life. He was 30 years old and was the brother of Ramesh Mogera, who is one of the missing fishermen aboard the doomed deep sea trawler Suvarna Tribhuja.

It is learnt that Chandrashekhar fell into depression after learning that the vessel his elder brother was working on went missing. The news of the finding of the wreckage of the vessel came as a devastating blow to his hopes and hence he attempted suicide by consuming poison unbeknownst to his family.

The attempted suicide did not claim his life but took his health to the worse. His family assumed that he was suffering from jaundice and only realized he had consumed poison three days later, after he revealed it to his brother. He was immediately admitted to a hospital, but his condition kept deterioration. The poison spread throughout his body and blood started oozing from his mouth and nose. According to the doctors, Chandrashekhar’s liver as well as his kidneys stopped function and eventually claimed his life.

Chandrashekhar’s death comes as a major shock to the elderly parents of the family of 9 who are already tearfully waiting for the return of their missing son Ramesh. The deceased was working as a fisherman and the family was dependent on his income.
