Mangaluru: The BJP has called for a comprehensive investigation into the stabbing incident that occurred during their victory celebration in Boliyar.
BJP’s Dakshina Kannada District President, Satish Kumpala, and newly elected MP, Brijesh Chowta, have demanded that the culprits be identified and brought to justice. They warned that if proper action is not taken, the party will resort to protests.
In a press conference held on Tuesday at the district BJP office, the leaders urged the police department to operate independently and constitutionally to ensure the district’s safety. They criticized the police for allegedly acting under the influence of the Congress party and demanded the withdrawal of cases filed against BJP workers who were chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’
The leaders highlighted that during the visit of the district in-charge minister on Monday, the minister participated in an event at a private hospital in Derlakatte. However, despite being in the same hospital where the stabbing victims were receiving treatment on the third floor, the minister did not visit the victims.
They also pointed out that the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, who is the area’s MLA, passed by the hospital multiple times but did not visit the victims.
They said that all BJP MLAs from the district have already visited the victims to offer their condolences. On June 12, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, R. Ashok, will visit the hospital to meet the victims.
