Bommai says Sampath Raj’s arrest will expose ‘conspiracy’ behind Bengaluru roits

Bengaluru: Following the arrest of Congress leader and former Bengaluru Mayor Sampath Raj in the Bengaluru violence case, Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that it is a major development that will lead to “exposure of the conspiracy and people behind it”.
Addressing presspersons he said, “Sampath was accused and was absconding. Had he been innocent, he would not have absconded. We have caught him. There will be a further probe.”
He further added, “His arrest is a major development that will lead to exposure of the conspiracy and people behind it (Bengaluru violence).”
Former Congress mayor R Sampath Raj, who was wanted in the Bengaluru violence case that left four people dead, has been arrested, police sources said on Tuesday.
Sampath Raj, the Congress corporator from Devara Jeevanahalli municipal ward, was arrested in Bengaluru, the sources said without divulging further details.
He had escaped from a private hospital where he got admitted for COVID-19.
