Brahmavar: 2 youngsters drown in rivulet; Bodies fished out after overnight search

Brahmavar: Two friends, who had gone swimming in the Madisalu stream at Uggel Bettu in the taluk, reportedly drowned on Tuesday. The bodies of both the boys were finally found on Wednesday, after a rigorous search, sources said.

The deceased have been identified as Shreyas (18) and Anas (16).

As per sources, three friends had ventured into the rivulet for a swim. However, they were swept away by the currents and two of them drowned. The friend who escaped kept mum about the incident and fled from the spot.

The incident came to light only after some locals found the belongings of the two victims at a nearby spot.

In the meantime, the family of the two registered a missing complaint with the police.

The friend who escaped was traced and questioned about their whereabouts. Based on his statement,  the police confirmed that the two youth were indeed drowned in the rivulet on Tuesday evening.

A search operation was immediately launched with the help of expert swimmer Ishwar and other locals. The mortal remains could be traced only on Wednesday, sources said.

A case in this regard is at the Brahmavar Police Station and further investigation is underway.
