Brahmavar: Class 8 student commits suicide in madrassa hostel

A class 8 student of a private school in Heradi allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the madrassa hostel here, police said on Sunday.

The deceased student has been identified as Mohammad Zahid (12), son of Rihana Begum.

He had been staying at madrassa hostel at Ranganakere in Brahmavar taluk for the past four months and was studying in Class 8 at a private school in Heradi.

When he did not come for lunch at 9 pm, he was found hanging in the bathroom of the hostel. He was immediately rushed to Brahmavar community health centre for treatment, where doctors examined him around 10.40 pm and declared him brought dead. A case has been registered at Brahmavar police station on the complaint of the boy’s mother Rihana Begum.

It is learnt that the boy did not want to go to the hostel and had a minor fight with other students of the hostel.
