Officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) apprehended a 40-year-old Brazilian citizen at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore for attempting to smuggle cocaine capsules worth crores of rupees on February 9. The suspect, arriving on a flight from Brazil en route to Dubai, aroused suspicion due to his physical discomfort and fatigue.
Upon closer examination, authorities discovered that the individual had ingested 91 capsules containing a total of 9.20 kilograms of cocaine. Following the detection, the man was promptly transferred to a hospital for medical assessment and subsequent removal of the capsules.
After several days of hospitalization, the capsules were successfully retrieved from the suspect’s body. Customs officials confirmed that a case has been filed against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
