Bribe: Corrupt official ensnared by ACB

Mangaluru: Karnataka Government’s Audit and Accounts Divison’s Assistant Account Officer Lokesh (50) from Bengaluru was caught red handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while taking bribe from a college principal. Rs 2.50 lakh has been seized from him.
Incident details
The principal of Bettampay government First Grade College in Puttur was supposed to get retired in the month of May and he inevitably required an audit clearance certificate. Lokesh demanded Rs 2.50 lakh to provide the certificate. Hence, the principal submitted a complaint to ACB in this regard.
The operation
As per the direction of the officials, the principal asked Lokesh to come to Mangaluru to collect the bribe. Accordingly, Lokesh came in his private car from Bengaluru and stayed at a hotel in Surathkal. In the afternoon, the principal left to meet the official. As soon as the official accepted the Rs 2,50 lakh bribe in cash, the ACB conducted a raid, arrested the accused and seized the cash.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of ACB Superintendent Uma Prashant was participated by Inspectors Yogish Kumar B C, Mohan Kottary, Hariprasad, Radhakrishna D K, Prashant, Radhakrishna K, Vaishali, Nayana, Rakesh, Ganesh and Rajesh.
