Bribery case: Madal Virupakshappa appears tearful, denies allegations during public appearance

Davanagere: BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa, who has been named an accused in a bribery case, made a public appearance in his native place Channeshapura on Tuesday, March 7, after the Karnataka High Court granted him interim bail. He had been missing for the last six days following the Lokayukta finding unaccounted cash at his residence.
Madal Virupakshappa wept as he spoke to his supporters and said that he had not done anything wrong.
During his public appearance, Madal Virupakshappa addressed reporters and claimed that the cash found in his house during the Lokayukta raid was earned through legal means. “The money we earned from our areca nut plantation and crusher was kept at home. I have documents for that money and I will provide it to them,” he said.
He also denied any wrongdoing during his tenure as KSDL chairman and promised to appear before the investigating officer within 48 hours as per the High Court order. “I have not done any illegal activities. We kept the money earned from our areca nut plantation and crusher at home,” he said.
Nalin Kumar instructs supporters to stop procession
Madal Virupakshalppa’s supporters greeted him with garlands and took out a procession when he made a public appearance. According to media reports, BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel called on the supporters to stop the procession immediately.
