Puttur: sanction has been accorded for the construction of a bridge-cum-dam between Harekala and Adyar, informed Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, U T Khader, addressing a press meet here on Wednesday February 20.
“Several areas are still struggling to get clean drinking water in adequate quantities. In this backdrop, a proposal to build a dam with bridge between these two villages at a cost of Rs 200 crore had been submitted. This proposal has been approved by the government,” informed the minister.
Mr Khader informed that Rs 65 lakh has been set for arranging drinking water and Rs 125 crores has earmarked for underground drainage system. He said that type project progress was delayed because of issues encountered in acquiring land at some places. “Therefore, we have issued instructions to the officials to acquire land in advance before proceeding ahead with the implementation of such projects,” he explained.
The minister appreciated the fact that the coalition government in the state was stable and working well. He pointed out that BJP’s attempts to destabilise the state government have failed to bear any fruits. Narendra Modi and Amith Shah’s conspiracy to cause the crash of the government has not yielded desired result.
“BJP members raised lot of din during the budget session. Still, for the first time in history, the state budget was passed without any discussion. There is no doubt that the coalition government will last its full term,” he said.
Pulwama terror attack
Condemning the terrorist act at Pulwama, Khader opined that India should hit back at them and said, “”We are with the central government on this issue. At the same time, we urge the government to probe how 300 kg RDX was smuggled in from across the border.”
Accusing Modi of falling silent after giving tall claims of keeping the neighbours under check Khader said, “Why is he unable to control the aggression of Pakistan and China? The people, who criticized Manmohan Singh for his silence, have now been observing prolonged silence. The central government rule during the last four years has miserably failed. The leaders have failed to keep their promises,” he said.
