Shivamogga: BJP state president  B.S. Yeddyurappa announced the candidature of his son  B.Y. Raghavendra from Shivamogga seat on Saturday.

Yeddyurappa’s announcement came hours after the Election Commission declared the dates for the bypolls to the three Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka. He was addressing a programme in Shiralakoppa town here.

In 2014, Yeddyurappa had defeated Congress candidate Manjunatha Bhandary to emerge victorious from Shivamogga parliamentary seat with a margin of over 3.6 lakh votes. The byelection was necessitated following Yeddyurappa’s election to the State Assembly from Shikaripur recently.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Raghavendra has already begun campaigning informally in Shivamogga.

Bypolls for Shivamogga, Mandya and Ballari Lok Sabha seats will be held on November 3 and the counting will be held on November 6.
