BSY assures to implement 10 per cent quota for economically backward in general category

Udupi: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Saturday, December 28 assured to implement a ten percent reservation in jobs and higher education for “economically backward” sections in the general category.

He was speaking after inaugurating Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha here. “Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, and Bihar have implemented the reservation policy for the economically backward” sections. The policy will be implemented in Karnataka after studying the government circular on the implementation of the policy in these states,” he said.

“The government will sanction Rs. 5 Crore for construction of Brahmana Sabha Bhavana at Bengaluru,” he added.

He also lauded Brahmana Mahasabha’s efforts in building the nation and contributions by the community in arts, literature, and education.
