Mysuru: Leader of Opposition and former CM Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that the Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa by saying that all disqualified MLAs will be made as ministers after by-polls has violated model code of conduct.
In a candid conversation with the presspersons, Siddaramaiah said, “BS Yediyurappa on Friday stated that all disqualified MLAs will be made as ministers. Making such comments while the model code of conduct effect is a mistake, he has no moral right to continue as the CM.”
He further accused BJP of involving in election malpractice and said that sarees seized by the police in Mysuru, is an example for it.
Election Commission officials raided BJP leader CP Yogeshwar’s residence in Vijaynagara Layout in Mysuru. During the raid, the officials had seized around 30,000 sarees and pamphlets belonging to the leader.
Taking a dig at the disqualified MLAs, he said, they have not sacrificed anything for the welfare of the state. They resigned as MLAs due to their selfishness, he added.
“BJP will not will more than 8 seats in the upcoming by-polls,” CLP said.
Fifteen out of the 17 constituencies represented by disqualified MLAs will be going for by-polls, while by-elections to Maski and RR Nagar constituencies have been withheld as separate cases with regard to them, are pending before the high court.
Sixteen out of the 17 disqualified Congress-JD(S) legislators on Thursday joined the BJP in Bengaluru in the presence of Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa and its state unit chief Nalin Kumar Kateel and National General Secretary in charge of the state P Muralidhar Rao.
All the 13 disqualified MLAs have been repeated from their respective seats.
