Mangaluru: At around 11 am in the morning, all of a sudden, smoke billowed from a private hotel here. Within moments the siren screamed. The staff and customers within the hotel ran out of the hotel. In seconds, the fire service personnel, NDRS staffs and volunteers reached the spot, conducted rescue operations and protected everyone.

This was a fire drill conducted on the occasion of the Fire Service Week 2019 of the Karnataka State Fire Service Department’s on Friday at Ocean Pearl hotel.

The public were informed on the safety action needed to be taken and on how the operation may be conducted in the case of a collapsed building or the possible accidents that can occur in buildings.

Awareness was spread on what action needs to be taken first in such a situation and on what type of operation can the people implement.
