Bus-car accident: Police arrest five for stoning bus

Puttur: Five person accused of pelting stones at a bus at Polya and damaging it have been arrested by the cops. The youth had attacked the private bus after the bus hit a car and killed the driver of a car on the spot at Polya in Kabaka village on Mani-Mysuru national highway on Monday August 12. The victim was Abdul Hakim.

The arrested are identified as Siddique (33), K Hamza (38), Habib Fisal (29), Abdul Sameer (30), all from Kabaka village, and Ismail (23) from Kodippady village.

Accusing the driver of rash and negligent driving, the gang had thrown stones at the bus. Loss due to damage to the bus has been put at Rs 60,000 by the owner of the bus, ‘Dharitri’, Sureshchandra. The police arrested the accused based on the complaint filed by the bus owner.
