Bus tumbles off hill in Chikkamagaluru; One woman dead & several others injured

Chikkamagaluru: A private tourist bus rolled off a hill, killing one woman and seriously injuring 5 others. The incident took place near Cheekanahalli Cross in Mudigere Taluk on Saturday, November 4.

The deceased has been identified asSurekha (45), a resident of Yelahanka, Bengaluru.

At least 48 passengers were on the bus on its way to Hornadu from Bengaluru via the Hassan-Mudigere route.

It is gathered that the accident occurred at 4.45 am on Saturday in the Gonibeedu police station limits.

The injured have been rushed to taluk hospitals in Mudigere and Belur.

Locals alleged that more than 70 accidents have occurred in the area. Despite requesting for building crash barriers, the appeals have fallen on deaf ears, they claimed.
