Mangaluru: Shiradi Ghat will be opened for bus passage from October 3rd, announced Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil at his office, on Monday, October 1st.

Speaking to reporters the DC said, “Vehicular movement was restricted because of the construction of concrete roads, side walls and also due to recent heavy rains. There were landslides in 12 places on this road. 8 places are out of danger now and police protection has been given in four dangerous areas of Shiradi Ghat.”

“Till now mini vehicles have been allowed to move on Shiradi Ghat road. From October 3, buses will also be allowed,” he added.

“We have discussed with district police and Hassan district commissioner regarding the movement of buses in the stretch. After a review within two weeks time, other heavy vehicles will be allowed,” informed Mr Senthil.
