Businessman alleges theft and extortion; Files police complaint

‎Udupi / Mangaluru‎‎: An Udyavara-based entrepreneur has filed a complaint of theft and extortion against four individuals at the Barke Police station in Mangaluru.

In his complaint, businessman Veerendra Hegde, alleged that Pandurang Kini, a resident of Bylur and three others — Hariprasad, Imtiyaz and Satyanath Pai — of stealing documents and trying to extort money by filing false complaints with the government authorities.

The complaint said that Pandurang Kini came asking for financial help a few years ago and later struck a friendship with the businessman. During the time, he allegedly stole documents and used them to extort money from Hegde, with the help from the other 3 accused.

They filed false cases with the government department and demanded Rs 2 Crore for withdrawing these complaints, Hegde alleged.

Further, Hegde alleged that the accused, in connivance with Hariprasad had tried to extort Rs 5 Crores from him at gunpoint.
