By 2047, India to be World’s No. 1: Vice President Jagadish Dhankar at IIT-Dharwad

Dharwad: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that India, once a model for the world centuries ago, is poised to rise again, and will certainly become the world’s No. 1 developed nation by 2047.

Speaking at the inauguration of two new entry gates at the Central Learning Theater (CLT) and the Knowledge Resource and Data Centre (KRDC) on the IIT campus in Dharwad city, he emphasized India’s progress path.

India is marching towards greatness. Despite all obstacles, India is steadily progressing towards development. By 2047, the centenary of independence, India will surely stand tall as the world’s No. 1 magnificent nation, he said.

Currently, the global spotlight is firmly fixed on India, marveling at our technological prowess. The international community eagerly anticipates our advancements in technology. India’s triumphant lunar mission has etched its name in the annals of world history, he said.

Vice President said that “India is poised to become the third-largest economy globally in the next few years”, and urged the students to “leverage the power of technology to help India achieve its goals and join the ranks of developed nations by 2047.”

The Indian government is actively prioritizing and fostering innovation in technology. ISRO has ushered in a multitude of opportunities. From a nation that once launched satellites from bicycles, today we are venturing toward the moon and the sun. Furthermore, India’s ability to prepare four individuals for space travel has unequivocally showcased its capabilities to the world, he remarked.

The Vice President encouraged students at IIT Dharwad to remain enthusiastic and resilient, stressing the importance of perseverance in the face of failure. In the era of technology, there is a great need for skilled professionals. Opportunities abound, but they need to be capitalized upon for the betterment of the nation, he urged.

Praising IIT Dharwad as a hub of global excellence, he expressed confidence in its potential to become the premier institution in India.

Emphasizing the essence of Indian culture, he called for unwavering faith in the nation’s ethos. Belief in Indian values is paramount. It is the key to our nation’s prosperity. However, it is disheartening that some fail to appreciate this. Nevertheless, the youth must uphold Indian values and nationalism, he stated.

The event was attended by Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti, IIT Director Venkappayya Desai, faculty, and students.

The CLT is an iconic building with a built-up area of 19,135 sq. m., featuring multiple lecture halls and auditoriums that can seat from 30 to 600 students. It has a distinctive ramp design granting access to all halls and a stunning 60m wide membrane fabric dome, making it an architectural marvel, a press release said.

The KRDC is a majestic 8540 sq. m. of built-up area temple-like tower structure housing the central library, reading rooms, data center, and digital learning facilities. Its viewing gallery offered breathtaking views of Dharwad city from 46m height, the release added.
