BY Vijayendra not keen on contesting Basavakalyan bypoll, clarifies BSY

Raichur: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday, March 21 made it clear that his son BS Vijayendra is not an aspirant of the ticket for contesting in the bypoll to Basavakalyan constituency of Bidar district.
“BS Vijayendra will not be contesting in the bypoll to Basavakalyan constituency. He will be going to Mysuru and settling down there to help party workers,” said Yediyurappa.
Indicating that Prathapagouda Patil will be the candidate from Maski he said that he is BJP’s candidate will win the elections with a margin of 20 thousand votes.
“We have sent the list of probable candidates to Delhi after discussions with local leaders. The high command will approve the list soon,” he added.
Bypolls to Belgaum Lok Sabha and Basavakalyan Assembly seats were necessitated following the death of Union Minister Suresh Angadi of the BJP and MLA B Narayan Rao of Congress respectively due to COVID-19 in September last year.
Maski seat fell vacant following the disqualification of MLA Prathapagouda Patil who had won in 2018 from the Congress and is now with the BJP.
Meanwhile, names of Angadi’s daughter Shradha, along with Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar, MLC Mahantesh Kavatagimath are doing the rounds for the Belgaum Lok Sabha seat. Former MLA Mallikarjun Khuba is among the names being mentioned for Basavakalyan seat.
