Byndoor: A failed attempt was made to steal money from an ATM by trying to cut it open using a gas cutter in Byndoor.
The robbers entered the Canara Bank ATM located on the main road here, attempted to cut open the front side of the machine by using a gas cutter fixed to a as cylinder and only managed to damaged the machine but leave the premises empty handed.
The CCTV hard disk has been burnt during the debacle. Since their attempt to rob the ATM failed the robbers left behind the gas cylinder used for the act and escaped. It is said that the act of the robbers has inflicted damages worth Rs 1.25 lakh.
It is learnt that a gas cylinder had been stolen from a shop at Maidinapura in Shiroor and the same gas cylinder was used for the foiled robbery. A case in this regard has been registered with Byndoor police.
