Byndoor: The callousness and insensitiveness shown by a construction company that is engaged in National Highway widening here towards the carcasses of cattle have attracted widespread condemnation from the public.
A viral video is being circulated on social media. The bodies of the two dead cows that were killed in a road accident are being dragged by a tow vehicle purportedly belonging to IRB Infrastructure Developers on the road on National Highway 66 near Bhatkal.
The insensitive handling of the carcasses of the animal considered holy by many Hindus has attracted widespread condemnation from the locals. Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) Byndoor unit termed the way the carcasses were dragged as “ghastly.”
Cows are considered sacred by the Hindu community with many holy religious occasions beginning with the puja of the cows. Hindu activists and the people have all along been performing the funeral of the deceased cows as per religious procedures, the Hindu outfit said.
“We condemn the apathy and irresponsibility shown by the IRB company,” HJV leader Raghavendra Naik said and issued a call to all the Hindu organizations to join a protest at Shirur toll plaza at 10 am on Monday.
