Cab driver slaps woman passenger

Mangaluru: In a shocking incident, a cab driver allegedly attacked a woman passenger for being questioned on rash driving near Kavoor on Sunday.
The cab driver has been identified as Dayanand (30) from Belthangady.
It has been reported that, two women from Mumbai, Shareen Mantri and Smitha Thackeray, ex wife of Jaidev Thackeray, son of Bal Thackeray, arrived in the city on Friday, March 9 to take a city tour and visit pilgrimages here. The two had hired a cab from the airport.
On Sunday, the two were on their way back heading towards the airport. During their journey, Dayanand was busy talking over phone while driving and when Shareen and Smitha repeatedly warned the driver three times for using his phone while driving. Irked with this, he got down the cab and slapped Shareen on her face.
Shareen along with Smitha Thackeray filed a complaint at Kavoor Police station later.
The police detained the driver and produced him in the court.
