Puttur: Union Minister Home Minister and Cocoperative Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, February 11 greeted all the farmers of Dakshina Kannada and Kerala, and dignitaries on the stage during his speech At CAMPCO’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Addressing the gathering Amit Shah said, “After watching the Kantara movie I got to know about the rich culture of Dakshina Kannada which is very famously known as Parashuram’s sristhi.”

Shah said that Mangaluru is the only place in Karnataka which has road, water, rail, and air connectivity thus making it a suitable place for traders.

“I salute Rani Abbakka and pray to the deities of Mangaladevi, Kadri Manjunath Temple, and Puttur Mahalingeshwar temple,” he added.

Amit Shah said that there is a close connection between Gujarat and Dakshina Kannada. “People of Gujarat remember people of Manglauru by the supari (an areca nut product) they chew… People of Dakshina Kannada sweat to grow the areca nut crop and we in Gujarat eat supari and sweat out,” he jested.

Amit Shah lauded the achievements of CAMPCO as a cooperative and said that after listening to the great strides made by the organization he was compelled to attend the golden jubilee celebration of the multi-state cooperative. “Any organization completing 50 years of existence is a certificate of its honesty and fidelity. It is a sign that CAMPCO has faithfully served the interest of its grower members and farmers in these 50 years,” he said.

The Home Minister also laid the foundation stone for a one-of-a-kind cooperative-based “Agri Mall” of CAMPCO near the Mahamaya Temple. He also digitally inaugurated the coconut processing plant (coconut oil Kalpa) at the chocolate factory premises in Puttur and the godown at Bhadravathi.

He also congratulated the management of CAMPCO for the progressive steps in the growth of the cooperative serving the interests of the farmers.
