Candidates relax after polling day

Mangaluru: Candidates in the fray for Karnataka assembly elections decided to unwind after a month of intense campaigning in their own ways.
In Udupi, most candidates spent their time attending marriages and other functions. Congress candidate for Udupi Assembly constituency Pramod Madhwaraj said, “With end of polling, I went to the Congress office and visited my fellow workers and later went to Mangaluru to visit Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes and had dinner. I returned at 11 pm and had a good sleep till 7.30 am. May 13, Sunday, I attended nearly 15 marriages and spent time with my family,” he said. He wasn’t worried about the results, he added.
His opponent for the constituency, BJP candidate Raghupathy Bhat also attended marriages and other functions on Sunday. “I also attended kola and other religious functions with my family. I am relaxed and spent quality time with my family,” he said.
Karkala BJP candidate Sunil Kumar said he was still busy attending to party workers since 6 in the morning. “I held talks with the party members over appointing the poll agents and by May 14, Monday night they would be reaching Udupi. I also attended marriages along with my family,” he added.
Congress candidate from Karkala, Gopal Bhandary too spent his time attending to his party workers, friends and family members.
Kaup BJP candidate and former MLA Lalaji R Mendon said he performed the thanksgiving ceremony to his party workers who were with him in the busy campaigning process. He said the only way out to relax is to be with the party workers. His opponent Vinay Kumar Sorake spent time with his family and party workers.
Bydoor BJP candidate Sukumar Shetty said, “I started working as a common worker from Sunday itself. I offered prayers early morning at home and later went to Anegudde. My family is my party. I held talks with party workers in Shankaranarayana, Amasebailu, Ajri, Siddhapura, Kamalasheele, Amparu and Kandluru also attended marriages, house warming ceremonies. The day was hectic like previous days.”
Kundapur BJP candidate Haladi Srinivas Shetty discussed the problems of the people on Sunday,May 13.
“My day was normal as usual. So no special work after the elections.” He said that his daily routine is to discuss the problems of the people and also the problems bothering coastal Karnataka. He too attended marriages and other functions and then had his lunch at 4.15 pm.
Belthangady Congress candidate Vasanth Bangera spent his time attending family functions. “I went to my office and also spoke to party workers,” he added.
Mangaluru South Congress candidate J R Lobo said he had good quality time with family members. On the other hand, Mangaluru City North candidate Mohiuddin Bava visited the Indian Coast Guard Ship
Vikram that arrived in Mangaluru and later relaxed by swimming at his home. BJP candidate Vedavyasa Kamath too spent some time with party workers in the office.
