Car driver murder case: Four arrested

Mnagluru: Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of car driver Janardhan Poojari in Mangaluru. The victim was reportedly sleeping near the football field of State Bank in the city when the incident occurred.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Prashanth (40), GK Ravikumar alias Nandisha, (38), Vijaya Kutinha (28), and Sarath V (36).
According to reports, the suspects approached Poojari and demanded his mobile phone. When he refused to hand it over, a scuffle ensued. One of the suspects kicked Poojari in the chest, causing him to fall. The suspects then physically assaulted he, leading to his death.
Poojari’s elder brother, Umesh Poojari, filed a complaint with the police.
The suspects have been taken into custody by the Mangalore South Police Station, and the incident has been registered as a case of murder with intent to extort the mobile phone.
The suspects have a history of criminal activity, with Ravikumar having a murder case against him from 2009 at the Kushalanagar police station. Sarath has a house theft case registered against him at Dakshina Kannada district’s Vitla police station in 2007 and an extortion case registered against him in 2022 at Udupi district’s Manipal police station. Vijaya Kutinha has a POCSO case registered against him in Konaje Police Station in 2022.
