Puttur: Four people of the same family lost their lives when the car in which they were travelling fell into a road side pond, after the driver lost its control at Kavu on the Mani-Mysuru state highway, n the morning of Monday, September 2.
The deceased have been identified as Ashok (48), his wife Hemalatha, son Yashas and daughter Varsha. It is learnt that all the deceased are natives of Shuntikoppa and were returning to Shuntikoppa after visiting Mangaluru when tragedy struck.
Apparently, the pond is located right beside the main road projecting a major danger and the public had urged to close this pond long back. But, as the pond belongs to a private entity it was not closed since the owner objected the same. Presently four lives have been lost.
Sampya police have registered a case in this connection and the corpses have been shifted to Puttur government hospital.
