Mangaluru: Congress leader and MLA UT Khader levelled serious allegations that the cases of cattle theft have risen after the BJP government came to power in the state and the recently implemented legislation banning cattle slaughter in the state as a deceptive trick.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Khader accused that police were being made a scapegoat for the failures of the state government.

Khader questioned the government as to why the 14 beef exporting units in operation in the state have not been closed. When the government has failed to do so, the law banning cow slaughter duplicity of the government, he said.

He also accused the BJP government in the state of robbing the powers delegated to the Panchayats by earlier Congress governments.
