Caught on CCTV: Daughter-in-law assaults elderly father-in-law, case filed

Kulasekhara: A shocking incident of domestic violence has surfaced, where a daughter-in-law allegedly assaulted her elderly father-in-law, leaving him injured.

The incident, caught on CCTV camera, occurred on March 9, prompting outrage and legal action.

The victim,  Padmanabha Suvarna,(87) was reportedly beaten with a walking stick by his daughter-in-law, identified as Umashankari, who serves as an officer in KEB, Attavar. The assault came to light when the victim’s son, Pritham Suvarna, who is employed abroad, reviewed the CCTV footage.

The injured Padmanabha Suvarna was admitted to a private hospital here for medical treatment.

Following the incident, a complaint was filed against Umashankari by Padmanabha Suvarna’s daughter, Priya Suvarna.

The complaint was lodged at the Kankanady Police Station and was based on the evidence provided by the CCTV footage.
