Caution required against new SARS-CoV-2 strain; no lockdown in State soon: Min Sudhakar

Bengaluru: Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar on December 21 said that caution is required against the new strain of the novel coronavirus discovered in three countries around the world, including Britain.
He also said that there is no question of implementing lockdown in the State again.
Speaking to reporters in the Vidhan Sabha he said that the new strain of the virus has not yet been detected in the State. Adding that people must now strictly adhere to the COVID-19 precautions such as wearing masks and maintaining distances now as this new strain is more contagious.
Already 530 people from Britain have arrived in the State. 138 of them have arrived without being tested for the virus, they have been home quarantined for one week. All travellers from abroad will have to compulsorily undergo COVID-19 test as per the Central government guidelines, he said.
