Mangaluru: With the summer around the corner and the sudden change in weather many citizens of the city are affected with viral fever. There is rise in fever, headache, cold and cough affected cases.

During the morning, the temperatures are cool but as the sun rises, so does the temperatures rise. The quick change in temperature takes toll on the body. Additionally, the variation in temperature is productive for the breeding of virus. Thus more and more people are showing signs of viral fever.

Doctors mention that viral fever during this time of the year is normal and there is no need to panic. But, if the fever fails to subside even after medication then a blood test is advised.

“As it is cool in the mornings, the virus which causes ordinary fever breeds during this time. This causes fever, cold and headache. There is no need to panic as this is general flu. If Paracetamol is taken for three days it will subside. If not, people should approach a physician,” informs a doctor from the city.

Caution needed to be taken

Fever can be controlled by drinking boiled water at lukewarm temperatures. Hot water bath is also advisable. Head bath is not advised until the fever subsides as water pored on the head can aggravate the sinus and cause headaches. One must also have proper and enough food. The human body requires food to fight the infection. Lack of food may lead to weakness once the fever subsides. Moderation in coffee and tea consumption is required.
