New Delhi: Karnataka has suffered a major setback over the Cauvery water-sharing dispute with Tamil Nadu.
The Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) on Tuesday overruled Karnataka’s objections to the CWRC interim order.
The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) in its interim order. had directed Karnataka to release a daily volume of 5,000 cusecs of water for 15 days from August 29. Following this, Karnataka had raised objections with the CWMA.
Notably, this requirement entails an additional 3,100 cusecs beyond the 1,900 cusecs of water being released to Tamil Nadu.
