CCTV cameras, protective walls to be installed on Netravati bridge: MLA Kamath

Mangaluru: CCTV cameras and protective walls will soon be installed on both sides of the Netravati Bridge in Ullal here informed MLA Vedavyasa Kamath.
A decision in this regard was taken during the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) meeting on Saturday, January 18 chaired by Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh and attended by MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, MLC Ivan D’Souza, MUDA commissioner Srikanth Rao, MCC commissioner Shanadi Ajit Kumar Hegde.
It must be noted that several cases of suicide and attempt to suicide by jumping into the river have been reported from here. The idea of constructing safety walls had been mooted by the elected representatives in order to minimise the untoward incidents.
Further, Kamath said that MUDA has been directed to develop the park at Valencia immediately. “The park will be developed in a way that it enhances the beauty of the city,” he added.
