Central govt allocates Rs 26,000 Cr for Fisheries Rs 33,000 Cr for Food processing sector

In a significant move, the central government has sanctioned Rs 26,000 crore for the fisheries project and Rs 33,000 crore for the food processing sector, allocating funds as part of a grant. Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shobha Karandlaje, highlighted that over the past three years, training in new technology has been provided to 4,500 crore farmers and fishermen.

During the inauguration of the new banking department and fish canteen at the Kaup branch of the Udupi District Cooperative Fish Market Federation, Minister Karandlaje expressed the government’s commitment to dispatching necessary technicians for training workshops organized by the federation to benefit fishermen.

MLA Yashpal Suvarna, Chairman of the Federation, discussed plans for expanding services to all taluks. He emphasized the Federation’s dedication to providing banking services through the newly opened branch and the trial launch of the Matsya canteen, with future plans for taluk centers across the state. Suvarna also emphasized the organization’s commitment to fostering fisheries development and generating employment opportunities for women.

MLA Suresh Shetty Gurme acknowledged the significant progress of the Fish Market Federation under Yashpal’s leadership. Notable figures present at the event included former ministers Vinay Kumar Sorake and Pramod Madhwaraj, as well as various leaders from local organizations.

The program included the distribution of Pratibha Puraskar for meritorious students, prizes for winners of the Uchila Dasara art competition, and the distribution of Fixed deposit certificates and Kisan Credit Cards of the new branch.
