Gundlupete: A brutal incident in which a father and his second wife murdered his daughter from his first wife was reported from Somahalli village in the taluk.
It is being reported that the 5-year-old daughter was killed by them as the second wife could not bear a child.
Both murderers, Mahesh and his second wife Ratnamma have been arrested by the Terakanambi police.
The murdered girl child has been identified as Mahalakshmi.
Mahesh had separated from his first wife Gouramma six years ago after alleging that she had an extramarital affair. After the separation, he married Ratnamma.
Mahesh and Ratnamma abducted Mahalakshmi on Monday, August 24 and drowned her in a tub in their backyard. Later they stuffed Mahalakshmi’s dead body in a plastic bag and hid it in their’s house’s prayer room.
Gouramma not finding her daughter anywhere finally registered a complaint at Terakanambi police station who sent Sub Inspector Radha along with her.
Seeing Gouramma and Radha coming to their house, Ratnamma ran and locked herself inside the house.
Suspecting her behaviour, SI Radha searched and found Mahalakshmi’s dead body in the house.
Immediately after arresting both of them, the police handed over the dead body for post-mortem examination at Chamarajanagar district hospital.
