Bengaluru: State Education Minister Suresh Kumar said on Monday that the chapters on Tipu Sultan will be retained in primary school textbooks for the academic year 2020-21.

Speaking to reporters at the SSLC Board office, he said that as the printing of the textbooks had already begun and the government had promised to deliver the textbooks before the beginning of the academic year, the changes in the content regarding Tipu will be done later.

He added that MLA Appachu Ranjan had provided documents recording Tipu’s atrocities on people in certain parts of the state for which a committee has been formed under the Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) that will look into the issue and changes in textbook content.
