Charmadi Ghat remains closed due to heavy rain

Charmadi: Substantial rainfall kept on lashing across different parts of the state even on Monday night as well. In Chikkamagaluru, the District Administration has announced holiday to schools and colleges in Mudigere, Koppa, Sringeri and NR Pura taluks.
According to reports many vehicles are stranded in the Charmadi Ghat segment, which stays closed for traffic , for about 15 hours now because of a landslide. The traffic issue has been disturbed since vehicles from Bengaluru are likewise plying through the Charmadi route attributable to the repair works at Shiradi Ghat. In addition, the Mangaluru-Bengaluru train services have been canceled due to the landslide at several places.
Because of substantial rains in Chikkamagaluru area, water is flowing over Hebbale bridge which connects Horanadu with Kalasa. Rains in Mudigere, Koppa, Sringeri and NR Pura taluks caused expanded inflow in the Bhadra, Tunga and Hemavati rivers. Rain fury was seen even in Hassan district.
The unending rains in Kodagu area has expanded the water-levels in Cauvery river. ‘Ganji centre’ has been set up for rain-affected individuals in Karadigodu government school. Notice has been served to 104 places of Karadigodu and 67 places of Guyya village guiding people to move towards a more secure place.
