Belthangady: Temporary repairs including the placing of sandbags were conducted on Saturday after the landslide on the 6th turn on the National Highway 73 at Charmadi ghat.
The temporary repairs were necessitated as all vehicular traffic was diverted to Charmadi and Sampaje after Shiradi ghat suffered a landslide.
District officials soon got onto work to repair and clear the road at Charmadi ghat at night to ease traffic movement.
“Clearing the affected area with single lane traffic and barricading was done. Sandbagging work is almost complete. A list of non-temporary repair works would be prepared and sent to the government for approval soon,” said Krishna Kumar, AEE of NHAI’s Dakshina Kannada district unit.
