Minor landslide after heavy rain causes traffic jam on Charmadi Ghat

Beltangadi: A minor landslide occurred on the third bend of Charmadi Ghat following heavy rainfall that began on Wednesday afternoon. The heavy rain has caused water to rush down the slopes and resulted in trees falling, partially blocking the road.

At the scene, two trees have toppled onto the road. Soil and other debris also flowed onto the road causing a bottleneck.  With only enough space for a single vehicle to pass through, this has led to significant traffic congestion in the area.

Continuous rainfall for over two hours in the Ghat region has exacerbated the situation.

A rescue team, including personnel from the Forest Department and local residents, cleared the debris form the road using JCB and restored smooth vehicular traffic.
