Cheating, blackmail: Swaroop Shetty taken into custody

Udupi: Swaroop Shetty, a resident of Manipal has been arrested by Manipal police on Tuesday September 3 in connection to cheating and blackmail cases.

Previously, Padubidri police had arrested Shetty for investigation relating to a case filed in that station. Apparently, he was also facing a case filed at Manipal police station.

The accused has been remanded to judicial custody and is presently lodged in the district prison at Hiriyadka.

Manipal police had obtained body warrant to question the accused with the aim to elicit critical information relating to allegations of defrauding his friends to the tune of lakhs of rupees through coercion methods and recovery of ganja in his flat.
