Chemical Waste Kills 14 Year Old Boy

Mysuru: A 14-year-old boy, Harshel succumbed to death and his friend Manjunath, seriously injured after the two victims came in contact with chemical waste dumped at Kaythanahalli of Mysuru taluk on Saturday morning. The duo were rushed into KR Hospital after the chemical waste burnt their bodies severely. Later, seriously injured Harshel died in the hospital and condition of his companion is reportedly serious. 

The incident took place when the duo went for defecation in a private land which is being used as chemical waste dumping yard by the nearby private companies. The area is located just behind RBI currency note printing unit and the site belongs to Somanna of Kumbara Koppalu. The locals have alleged that the private companies located in the nearby areas are using the location as their dumping yard to deposit chemical waste. 

Earlier, the locals had complained to the concerned officials against the chemical waste dumping. However, the officials did not take any measures to prevent the companies to use the site as their dumping yard.
