Chennai: Herbal products firm employee dies after testing Covid-19 ‘drug’ on himself

Chennai: A 47-year-old man working as a pharmacist at a herbal products firm in Chennai died after consuming a medicine he and his boss developed to treat coronavirus infections.

The deceased has been identified as K Sivanesan.

Initial police investigation revealed that Sivanesan and his boss Rajkumar, 67 decided to tested the drug on themselves.

They both collapsed after consuming the medicine and were rushed to a nearby hospital where Sivanesan passed away.

It is gathered that he had consumed a larger quantity of the drug while Rajkumar who took a few drops is said to be stable and is undergoing treatment.

A police investigation is ongoing.
